Real-time Data Charging

• Integration with any GSM network regardless of existing equipment

• DIAMETER-proxy functionality and adaptation to any billing system

On the basis of PROTEI Real-time Data Charging Gateway, the mobile operator can deploy a whole array of innovative convergent services related with the real-time authorization and billing of Internet access, IP telephony and other data services provided by either mobile networks or external NGN networks (Wi-Fi, WiMax, Broadband access networks and others).

The platform provides real-time billing of data services to the GSM/UMTS subscriber’s main account. It is important that the GSM subscriber can be either postpaid or prepaid (in the latter case CAMEL technology is used for managing his account on-line).

The wide range of supported interfaces means the platform can be integrated into practically any GSM/UMTS network, regardless of the billing system, switching equipment and Data equipment used. Volume-based, time-based or content-based charging of data transfer sessions can be implemented depending of business concepts being used for data services providing.

System interacts with data equipment (GGSN, Access Servers etc, Wi-Fi controllers) via RADIUS, DIAMETER or HTTP interface. Interaction with Operator’s billing system or with Operator’s prepaid platform is performed via CAMEL or DIAMETER interface. IACC interface for on-line MMS charging is also supported

System deployment enables to implement GGSN-based GPRS on-line charging without CAMEL3 activation at the network elements (like SGSN). This approach dramatically decreases service deployment and increases GPRS roaming geography.

Key Benefits

  • Real-time charging of all types of data and messaging services
  • Per-session or per-call subscriber authorization and charging
  • Volume-based or time-based charging and billing using the operator's main billing system
  • RADIUS, DIAMETER, HTTP, IACC and proprietary protocols support
  • Diameter-proxy functionality
  • Authorization by WEB-interface or by MAC-address
  • CDR generation
