Impossible Just Takes Longer to Design

SoftSwitch class 4

Functions

  • Establishment of basic connections
  • Call routing
  • Load distribution
  • Audio signal generation
  • INAP (intelligent services)
  • CDR
  • Lawful intercept
  • SBC
  • RTP proxying
  • Emergency alarm
  • DTMF receipt (Inband, Outband)

Connection to IN

Softswitch class 4 is fully compatible with the PROTEI Intelligent Platform for support of a wide range of IN services.

Routing

The choice of node for serving a call is made on the base of the calling and called parties´ numbers, the IP address of the source, destination and other call parameters.

SBC mode

PROTEI Softswitch class 4 can work as a Session Border Controller, with functions for bandwidth control and limiting the number of simultaneously connected calls. The system can also prioritize traffic.

Services

  • Basic call
  • Auto-redial
  • CallWaiting
  • Hold
  • Transfer
  • Consult
  • Three-way conference calling
  • Redirection management
  • Block incoming/outgoing connection
  • Hot-Dial (connection without dialling)
  • FDCI
  • Voice greetings and prompts
  • User group creation
  • HotLine

Statistics

Collection of statistical information and storage of detailed connection records enables the operator to use PROTEI Softswitch class 4 in a range of applications of varying complexity.

Emergency alert

The emergency alert system allows the status of both the Softswitch and equipment connected to it to be viewed in real time, allowing the operator to significantly cut time spent on fault fixing.

Unified maintenance system

System maintenance can be carried out using various tools: Telnet/SSH, FTP, graphical web interface and command line interface.

Reliability and load balancing

System availability is further guaranteed by network architecture and load balancing - when one module reaches a set threshold, excess load is routed to a free module. Should a module fail, traffic is automatically redistributed among other modules and the failed module can be replaced without any interruption to service.

Horizontal Scalability

System capacity can be increased with no interruption to service flow, allowing seamless expansion to meet growing service demands.
